Chard water butt pilot terms and conditions

August 2024

Where to find information about us and the water butts we are offering

You can find everything you need to know about this offer on the Wessex Water website and on the letter and leaflet sent to you before you order. Key information about the offer is available within these terms and conditions.

When you order your water butt, you agree to:

  • Install the water butt. Installation instructions are available on our website. Please review these instructions before ordering to ensure that you are confident you can install the water butt yourself.
  • Regularly use the water collected in the water butt so there is as much capacity as possible to store more water when it rains again. You can do this by watering your plants and garden, topping up ponds, or using it to wash down your patio. If you have a reasonably well-drained garden, you could consider building a raingarden for the water to flow into.

We'll also contact you by email occasionally with short surveys to find out how you're getting on with your water butt and draining them before rainfall to help inform future similar projects in Chard and beyond

When you order a water butt from us you acknowledge that:

We only accept orders when we've checked them.

You will have until 27 September to order your water butt from the time you receive your letter, after which the order form will expire.

We will contact you to confirm we've processed and accepted your order.

We may reject your order.

We have only offered the water butts to selected properties. If you have not received a promotional letter, you are not eligible to receive a free water butt.

We may also reject your order due to the limited number of water butts available. Each household may only order up to two water butts. Water butts are offered on a first come, first serve basis. If we run out of water butts, we will let you know as soon as we can.

We're not responsible for delays in delivery.

You will be provided with an estimated date of delivery once your order is confirmed. If the delivery of your water butt is delayed by an event outside our control, we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know and do what we can to reduce the delay. You may contact our Chard Water Butts Pilot team at chardwaterbutts@wessexwater.co.uk to cancel your order if the delivery is delayed, but this is your only recourse for delay.

Water butts can vary slightly from their pictures.

A water butt's true colour may not exactly match that shown on your device.

The water butt offered is one size only.
